Chairman of Board of Directors visits UMP laboratory facilities

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP)’s laboratory and learning facilities were described as impressive by its Chairman Board of Directors, Dato’ Sri Ibrahim Ahmad who spent about two hours in the Gambang campus on January 22, 2019.

Dato’ Sri Ibrahim said he was pleased to see the kind of capacity UMP had and that he was satisfied with the occupational safety and health aspects that the university put great emphasis on.

“This shows that UMP’s laboratories are systematically managed and operated according to international standard,” he said.

Dato’ Sri Ahmad’s arrival at the university was greeted by UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim and the university’s management including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah Mohd Yusof, Department of Research and Innovation General Manager, Datin Sri Fazia Ali and Registrar/Chief Operation Officer, Abd Hamid Majid.

He visited the laboratories of Faculty of Industrial Sciences & Technology and Faculty of Chemical & Natural Resources Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Management Learning Factory, Faculty of Engineering Technology GMP Lab, Center of Excellence for Advanced Research in Fluid Flow (CARIFF), Bio-Aromatic Research Center of Excellence (BARCE) and IBM Centre of Excellence.

Briefings were delivered by officers-in-charge of every laboratory that included projects and amenities available.

He spent time with undergraduates who were completing their final projects and was briefed on the developments and achievements attained.

He also spent time with post-graduate students and explored the facilities prepared for the students’ research projects and theses.
