The books were launched by the Dean of the Centre for Human Sciences (PSK), UMP, Dr. Mohamad Hilmi Mat Said at Majlis Inspirasi SUARA UMP in the Executive Lounge, UMP Library, Pekan.

Also present were the UMP Chief Librarian, Azman Abdul Rahim and Director of the Office of SUARA UMP, Ts. Dr. Muhamad Mat Noor.

According to Dr. Mohamad Hilmi, this event was held to celebrate the efforts of writers, editors and publishing staff who worked hard to publish the books.

“These four books include research work, modules, original work and also creative work.

“I pray that such noble efforts can provide knowledge to the community and the university, and even become an act of worship, and the reward will continue to flow to all involved in producing these books.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to the UMP Library which has been very helpful in storing various references and treasures of knowledge for UMP students and staff to obtain information and knowledge,” he said.

He further explained, “Although we already know that we should keep quiet in the library, but believe me the library staff have never been silent in carrying out their responsibilities all this time.

“We must understand that in the ecosystem of a publication, we must never forget the role of a library in storing and documenting all the publications we have published.

“Therefore, I hope this monthly event can spread the work of UMP lecturers to the community in UMP’s efforts to fulfil the responsibility of establishing a relationship between the university and the surrounding community.

“This event is not only to appreciate the writers and editors who work hard to publish high-quality work as knowledge documentation but also an indirect marketing medium for the outside community to recognise and buy books published by UMP,” he said.

Dr. Mohamad Hilmi said such efforts should be commended, apart from a form of appreciation to the writers who diligently prepared their manuscripts for publication. It is also a source of encouragement to our other lecturers to also write and produce high-quality work in the future.

“Writing a book is not an easy task. Publishing is also not an easy job because a lot of energy is needed to ensure that it is of good quality.

“There are many processes that need to be done before is eligible for publication. Sometimes it takes years to publish a book.

“A manuscript must go through the process of evaluation, design, editing, indexing and printing.

“Therefore, when a book is successfully published, it should be celebrated,” he said.

He added that in the matter of publishing a book, it is not only about the author and editor, but the graphic designer is also directly involved.

“Their behind-the-scenes work is also not a job that can be taken lightly, it should also be appreciated.

“Therefore, I believe that this event not only celebrates the authors of the book, but we also celebrate all parties involved, directly and indirectly, in the publication of a book,” he said.

At the same time, Ts. Dr. Muhamad Mat Noor hoped that the effort and enthusiasm to continue writing and publishing books become an important agenda for all of us, especially the lecturers so that the knowledge and experience they have will continue to be an invaluable contribution to religion, race and country.

“The books are available on these websites https://shopee.com.my/penerbitump or https://mohbeli.com/product-category/books/,” he said.

Dr. Mohamad Hilmi also presented certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to the contributors of articles and scholarly articles published in the official UMP bulletin, namely e-Create and e-Pekan Review.
