Pahang Media Practitioners feted by UMP

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) hosted a tea party for the media practitioners in the state on November 26, 2018 as a mark of appreciation on the latter’s commitment in providing news coverage to the university’s programmes.

It was also aimed at fostering closer ties between the university’s management and the media.

Extensive coverage has been given to UMP ever since it was established 17 years ago and the university is now well-known by the public as an institution that produces competitive engineers and technologists.

UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim said UMP was very pleased with the undivided cooperation from the media to convey the developments and achievements of the university to the public including highlighting the university’s listing as top 200 universities in Asia by QS University Ranking Asia: 2019. 

Also present at the event were Chief Operation Officer and UMP Registrar, Abd Hamid Majid, Sports and Culture Centre Director, Abd. Rahman Haji Safie, NSTP Bureau Chief, Abd. Razak Raaf, Bernama Bureau Chief, Noor Shamsiah Mohamed and Sinar Harian Bureau Chief, Nik Amirul Mu’min.

A pre-launching of UMP Vice-Chancellor Cup Media Badminton Tournament was also held. The competition, to be held on December 13, is aimed at promoting the sports and healthy lifestyle among the media practitioners.

Some 60 journalists and photographers attended the tea party. They were also entertained by UMP Kencana Pawana dance group.
