Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman appointed as Chairman, Board of Directors UMP

Pekan, 26 October 2020 - Tan Sri Dato' Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman was appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) for three years effective from 19 October 2020 to 18 October 2023.

The appointment was made by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Dr. Noraini Ahmad in accordance with the provisions of Section 17 (1) (a) of the University Constitution.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Abdul Aziz, 74, later continued his master's degree in Developmental Science, and a Doctorate (PhD) in Sociology of Education at the National University of Malaysia (UKM).

He is currently the President of the Council of Former Malaysian Representatives (MUBARAK) and is a member of the Malaysian Certified Accountants from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and also the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

With his stature, ability, expertise, and extensive experience, he holds many positions in corporate companies, sports organizations and NGOs, under the Pahang Darul Makmur state administration and the government administration.

His involvement is also very synonymous with the university when he was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors, UMP from 2006 to 2014.

Not only that, he was also appointed as the Chairman of UMP Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (UMPH).
He is currently the Chairman of IIUM Medical Specialist Centre and Deputy Chairman of IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff, with his vast experience, the university is confident that he will be able to contribute expertise to continue to excel.

"It is in line with the university's aspiration as a higher education institute based on engineering and technology towards the best technology university by 2050.

The university also thanked Dato' Sri Ibrahim Ahmad who is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

"He has contributed a lot during his appointment with the management of UMP, especially in formulating the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 as well as leading high-level Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) involving the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN)," he said.
