UMP Research Leaders Are Golden Globe Tigers

Kuala Lumpur, 26 April- Assistant Vice- Chancellor (Corporate and Quality Affairs), Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah Mohd. Yusoff and Dean of Faculty of Engineering Technology, Professor Dato’ Dr. Zularisam Abd. Wahid were recipients of the Golden Globe Tigers Awards 2019. Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah has won the The Golden Globe Tigers Award 2019 for Education Leadership Award meanwhile Professor Dato’ Dr. Zularisam for The Best Professor in Engineering Technology Studies. 

In partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Human Resources Management (MIHRM), The Golden Globe Tigers Awards, created by Dr R L Bhatia – Founder of World CSR Day and World CSR Congress – and given annually since 2013 in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka, is multi-functional, multi-discipline and industry-focused and recognises ‘tigers’ in marketing, branding, corporate social responsibility (CSR), social innovation, education and academia, across all leadership levels.

UMP Vice- Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim said that, he believes this Award validates and celebrates UMP's leadership in engineering science and technology, innovativeness, creativity and our strong desire for excellence.

“With almost 20 years’ experience in academia, lecturing and engaging in leadership and management of higher education, our researchers are passionate lecturers who are dedicated in bringing quality education to the classroom and beyond, including promoting holistic education whilst inculcating the need to give back to society. They have published prolifically in top journals and continue to actively conduct research in engineering and technology," he added. 

The Awards were based on an intensely-researched process undertaken by a research cell who produce a shortlist of exemplary individuals and track the record of their achievements. The winners are then selected by a jury comprising senior professionals from across the globe who exemplify the best in Education Leadership in their respective sectors.

The recipients were honoured at the award ceremony held at the Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur on 24 April 2019. On hand to deliver the awards was Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Airlines.
