The Faculty of Computing building will be operational next October

Pekan, 9 September 2020 - The Faculty of Computing (FK) building, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in Pekan will be fully operational soon when it is officially handed over by the Public Works Department of Malaysia (JKR) to the university in a ceremony held at the Lecture Hall, FK recently.

Also present was the Deputy Director-General of Works Malaysia (Development Sector), Ir. Radzwan Kasim, Vice-Chancellor of UMP, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Deputy Director of Pahang State Works, Suhaimi Jamaludin, Director of UMP Property Development and Management Centre, Dr. Mohamad Idris Ali, and Chairman of Jayazira Construction Sdn. Bhd., Dato’ Haji Adi Munawar Haji Md Din.

In his speech, Ir. Radzwan said, JKR as the implementing agency would like to thank UMP and all parties for the trust and support given and hope this close cooperation will be maintained for future projects.

“The construction project of this building has started to be built since March 29, 2016, with the believe and trust given by the government to the contractor Pembinaan Jayazira Sdn. Bhd.

“The offer of the scope of construction of this building has been implemented involving all mechanical and electrical works under the responsibility of the main contractor.

"The construction of the four-storey building with an area of 18,107.10 square metres, houses the main spaces such as the Dean's office, academic staff room, lecture room, laboratory, facilities with staff and students, as well as common use space," he said.
 
Apart from that, 169 car parking units, 141 motorcycle parking, and six parking spaces for the Disabled (OKU) are also provided.
 
He added that the involvement of all stakeholders is very important and the approach emphasizes the need for a sense of urgency, security, and commitment of all parties that drive the success of this project despite being affected by the country's problems in facing the challenges of Covid-19.
 
“However, all the obstacles and challenges were successfully passed until the completion of this project with the issuance of Certificate of Completion (CPC) on August 19 recently.
 
“Therefore, in this program, we submit three achievements, namely Certificate of Completion (CPC), As-Built and Draft Final Statement of Account.
 
"I also congratulate the JKR Pahang Project Implementation Team, the contractor, and everyone involved," he said.

The FK building project cycle is now entering the one year of disability liability period until 18 August 2021.
He hopes the contractor can maintain their performance by continuing their responsibilities and act quickly in handling any complaints during the period of liability for the defect.

Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar also thanked JKR and Jayazira Construction for being able to realize the dreams of UMP citizens.

His party has always witnessed the construction and development at UMP Pekan from the beginning and is always waiting for further development such as several other faculties and the Convocation Hall.

He hopes that with the operation of this faculty can further boost the development of the campus in producing excellent people one day.
