UMP seals partnership with Hadramout University

KUANTAN, 2 March 2021 – The close collaboration networking between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Hadhramout University (HU) in Yemen is bound to benefit the academic and research fields involving both universities. 

The four areas that will be the main focus are student and staff exchange, co-organisation of conferences, Master and Doctorate programmes collaboration, and joint projects and research grants. 
 
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was held online.
 
The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff signed the MoU on behalf of UMP while HU was represented by their President, Professor  Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash. 

Also present at the programme were the Hadhramout Governor, Major General Faraj Salmeen Albahsani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, HU Deputy President of Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babair and Dr. Samir Salem al-Bawri representing HU in Malaysia.
 
According to Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar, the university welcomed this collaboration especially in research, academic and co-organisation of conferences together with HU.
 
“To this day, UMP has 155 alumni from Yemen and 175 students currently undergoing their studies including 147 undergraduates and 28 postgraduates.

“Fifty students have received sponsorship from BFOS and the Babaker Group to study at UMP,” he said. 
 
Meanwhile, four staff members from Yemen are currently in service at this university, namely Associate Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Mohammed al-Sewari (Faculty of Computing), Dr. Taha Hussein Alaaldeen Rassem (Faculty of Computing), Dr. Abdullah Nasser Mohammed Abdullah (Faculty of Computing) and Dr. Waheb Abdul Jabbar Shaif Abdullah (Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology).
 
At the same time, both parties discussed student exchange and funding matters for Yemen students who are continuing their studies at this university.
 
Also discussed was the co-organisation of the 7th International Conference on Software Engineering & Computer Systems and the 4th International Conference on Computational Sciences & Information Management to be held on 24 to 26 August 2021 organised by the Faculty of Computing, UMP.
