iCITES 2018 Focuses on Technology, Engineering and Science

International Conference of Innovative Technology, Engineering and Science 2018 (iCITES 2018) has been held recently and has succeeded in gathering nearly 100 local researchers in various areas of engineering and science and technology such as green and material frontiers, innovative robotics and automation, renewable and green energy, sustainable manufacturing as well as data analytics and internet-of-things (IoT). 

iCITES 2018 is an inaugural conference jointly held by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Alumni Society and UMP Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Also joined in the organizing of this conference were Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, UMP, Intel (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Jerman and Innovative Manufacturing, Mechatronics & Sports Laboratory (iMAMS). 

Conference Chair, Dr. Syarifah Maszura Syed Mohsain said, this conference aims at building a platform that allows interested experts to share and discuss their latest researches, ideas and survey reports in theoretical and practical areas of engineering. This is in line with the effort to support the innovation of science and technology in engineering. 
 
“The areas discussed have become increasingly important in making Malaysia a scientifically advance nation. This is in line with the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN) to utilize Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for Socio-Economic Transformation and Inclusive Growth of the State”, she said during the conference that was held at UMP Pekan Library. 

Keynote address was presented by Profesor Dr. Ing. Maurice Kettner (Karlshure), Profesor Dr. Zahari Taha (UMP), Dr. Syed Hussein Syed Alwi (Intel Malaysia), Profesor Dr. Shahrul Na’im Sidek (Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia) and Dr. Ali Abbas (University East of London United Kingdom). 

Paperwork presented includes areas related to Green and Frontier Materials, Innovative Robotics & Automation, Renewable & Green Energy, Sustainable Manufacturing and Data Analytics & IOT.

Also present in this conference were Managing Director of Urusan Ex Foam Insulation Sdn Bhd who is also the member of UMP Board of Directors, Mr. Shaiful Suliman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah Mohd Yusof, Dean of Research Engineering, Professor Dr. Md Mustafizur  Rahman and President of UMP Alumni, Mr. Syed Mohd Hamzah al-Junid Syed Abdul Rahman.
