 Around Campus Info UMP Holdings personnel prepared 1,000 face shield for frontliners

Bhd. (UMPH), which is a subsidiary of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), lent a helping hand by providing 1,000 face shields at its office building on 13 April 2020. According to Project Manager, Mohd Hairuddin Idris, 1,000 face shields were provided to support the state government's initiative under the coordination of the Pahang State Secretary's Office for distribution to frontliners at the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) who still needed supplies in the state. “About 30 volunteers from UMP Holdings and the Group worked together to provide this disposable face shield.”
“By using the production line concept, the first station will perform sponge cutting, followed by rubber cutting and patching, and finally packaging.” "We also take safety precautions against our employees with social distancing and regularly use hand-sanitizers," he said. He added that this initiative is one of the many forms of community service at the moment as each company and individual plays an important role in relieving the burden of frontliners in the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Earlier, UMP Holdings also partnered with the UMP Alumni Association and UMP Graduates to donate mineral water for the frontliners. Among those who received the donations were the Gambang Police Station and the authorities involved in the roadblock operation around Gambang. The mineral water is distributed weekly along with the supply of 50 bottles of 500 ml hand sanitizers to ensure adequate supply and consistency of need. Bhd (UMPH), a subsidiary of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), helps produced 1,000 face shields and donated 720 bottles of drinking water to the healthcare workers. UMP Services Sdn. Bhd. produces the face shields while Imani Agro Industries Sdn. Bhd. donated the drinking water. Both companies are subsidiaries of UMP Holdings Sdn. Bhd. The donations was handed over by General Manager, UMP Services Sdn. Bhd., Mohd. Sanusi Abdullah to Head of Nurse, Sister Sabariah Abu Bakar, who was represented by Nurilham Ibrahim dan Nancy Borubui. Also present were Human Resources Manager, Adlan Maarop and Project Manager, Mohd Hairuddin Idris in the event that took place at Pahang Health Department. According to Sanusi, a total of 1,000 face shields were distribute to Ministry of Health frontliners in this state to support the state government's initiative under the coordination of the Pahang State Secretary's Office.
"This donation is one of the social responsibility initiatives for the community as the country faces the threat of the Covid-19 outbreak. Currently, we are focusing to aid the frontline who are working hard to break the virus chain," he elaborates further. He added, this initiative is another form of community service at the moment; with each company and individual plays a key role in alleviating the burden of frontline workers in battling the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, Hairuddin said, 30 volunteers from UMP Holdings and Group were working hand-in-hand to provide this disposable face shield. Safety precautions such as social distancing and regularly use of hand sanitizers were also implemented amongst the workers during the process of producing the face shields. UMP Holdings have also cooperate with the UMP Alumni Society in donating drinking water to the frontliners including the workforces involve in the roadblocks all around Gambang. The ‘triUMPH Frontliners’ donation was also introduced to collect the people’s money in order to donate more drinking water to the frontliners. This donation will be carry out weekly. On the other hand, UMP Holdings also supplies hand sanitizers to ensure it is always consistent and sufficient. MyGift UMP Foundation donates Covid-19 Aid Kit for Ramadan

ROZAIMI ABU SAMAH, FACULTY OF CHEMICAL AND PROCESS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY Concerned for the current situation of Movement Control Order (MCO) and the forthcoming of Ramadan, UMP Foundation distributed assistance to the frontliners and the staff in need on 17 April 2020. The donation in the form of essential food items is distributed in stages in both campuses for 200 recipients. In less than a week, all families are certainly busy preparing to welcome Ramadan, especially the head of the family.
The donation is expected to ease the burden during the MCO. In celebrating the spirit of Ramadan, UMP Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN) plans to carry out various online activities to ensure that every day is filled with activities that strengthen the family ties and to reap the full benefits of this blessed month.

Student Activities The song 'Kita Jaga Kita’ by UMP students on advise against COVID-19
Translation by: AMINATUL NOR MOHAMED SAID, FACULTY OF COMPUTING A group of students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) made a remake of the song ‘Sakit’ by Zynakal, changing its lyrics to advise Malaysians in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 that has affected countries around the world, titled ‘Kita Jaga Kita’ (‘We Protect Each Other’). With academic backgrounds in Engineering and Technology, these students’ creative effort was a calling developed while undergoing the Movement Control Order (MCO) which has been implemented in Malaysia since 18 March 2020. The students involved are Nur Nissa Halimah Rahmat, a student from Faculty of Computing and her two friends; Haris Nufail Shamshul Azri from Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, and Dinie Almatin Asfarin from the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology. They are also members of the Solo Singing Club, UMP's Culture and Arts Secretariat. During the interview, Nur Nissa stated that she firstly wanted to express her gratitude to Zynakal for allowing the usage of his song and the club advisor, Noor Afiza Mohd Azmi who has given much encouragement to her and her friends. "The production of the song was an effort in response to the government's call to the people to work together and be united in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic," she said.
She also shared her experience in producing the song which took a day. “It took us about two hours to come up with lyrics that included elements of advice.” "We then sang and recorded the song individually from our own homes.” "Once the recording process was completed, we further communicated and emailed the material for further processing," she said. Although they were undergoing MCO at home, it did not stop them from producing the song especially with the ease of the latest technology, as Nur Nissa lives with family in Johor Bahru, Harris in Perak, and Dinie in Selangor. She added that some of the challenges faced were limited internet access. However, it was not a major obstacle. She further highlighted that the song was a dedication for Malaysians, especially as a tribute to the COVID-19 frontliners. She hoped that the song would raise awareness and to serve as a reminder to fellow Malaysians. She believes that the song’s message is one of the best approaches to occupy people's time who are currently undergoing MCO either at home and on campus. This song has been uploaded to UMPTV’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEUwnJ7z46M and is shared on UMPMalaysia Facebook page. Among the lyrics is a call for the cooperation of Malaysians to fight COVID-19, be wary, a misstep will be disastrous. Without caution, COVID-19 is easily infected and the disease is not easy to stop. Aside from focusing on their studies, these students are known on campus to be active in singing as they have been actively performing at most of the University’s official events.
