Yayasan UMP extends help, prays Uqail immediately be found

KUANTAN, 4 January 2020 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was shocked by the news befalling the family of a student of the Faculty of Computing (FK), Uqail Iskandar Zulkernain, whose father, Zulkernain Itam, was drowned while trying to move household items due to flood.

The incident occurred due to the flood that hit several districts in Pahang, including Jerantut, yesterday.

The Chairman of the Board of UMP, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, and all university associates extend their condolences to the family and pray that Uqail is found soon.

“We pray that Uqail, who is still missing, will be found immediately to relieve the grief of the family,” he said.

He, who is also the Chairman of Yayasan UMP, said that he also expedited flood disaster relief in the form of essential items and food for the victim’s family members this afternoon.

Present to deliver the donation was the Dean of Student Development, Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), Associate Professor Dr. Mansor Sulaiman to his mother, Mazayana Abdullah. 

Also present were JHEPA Service Manager, Zainal Bahari, Youth and Sports Officer, Mohd Aznorizamin Ismail, and Administrative Assistant (Clerical/Operations), Nazrul Redza Nazeri, who hails from the area.

He added that other assistance would follow through tomorrow, and he will always ensure the welfare of students and emotional support for families, especially in this difficult situation.

“Currently, the university management has mobilised efforts to help flood victims, especially among students and staff, through the UMP Disaster Management Steering Committee.

“In the meantime, we hope the students are always vigilant and sensitive to the instructions issued by the authorities besides always prioritising safety during the monsoon season,” he said.
