4,083 UMP students graduate in 16th MKK

KUANTAN, 6 August 2022 - The Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) 16th Convocation Ceremony today saw a total of 4,083 graduands for 2021, comprising doctoral and master’s graduands (280), bachelor’s graduands (2,235) and diploma graduands (506) as well as UMP Advanced graduands  (1,062) receiving their degrees and diplomas from 6 to 9 August at the Sports Complex,  UMP Gambang Campus.

The UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor presented the degrees and excellence awards to a total of 942 master’s and doctoral degree recipients as well as 24 awards and prizes of excellence in conjunction with the Convocation Ceremony held today.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, out of the total, 22 graduands received two degrees in the UMP-HKA Dual Degree program in collaboration with the German Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), which is now entering its 12th year focusing on Automative Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering.

In this ceremony, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abi Musa will present the degrees to 837 graduands in the third session on 7 August 2022 (Sunday).

The fourth session involves 808 graduands and will be presented by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, while on 9 August 2022 (Tuesday), the fifth session involves 842 graduands, and the sixth session involves 654 graduands.

There were also three new awards from industry and corporate, namely the Volunteer Leadership and Social Responsibility Excellence Prize from YH Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, a member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan UMP.

“The other two awards are the UMP Postgraduate Research Prize donated by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) and the UMW Holdings Bhd. Excellence Prize,” he said during a press conference introducing the award recipients held at the Sports Complex UMP Gambang recently.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the UMP’s 20th Anniversary this year, there were 20 programmes scheduled during the UMP Expoconvo from 5 to 9 August 2022 at the Chancellery Square UMP Gambang Campus.

The Launching Ceremony of Expoconvo 2022 will be officiated by the Deputy Minister of Finance I, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Indera Mohd Shahar Abdullah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Paya Besar, on 7 August 2022 at 4.00 pm.

There is also a STEM and Innovation exhibition to provide an opportunity for the public to see UMP’s expertise and introduce science and technology, especially to school students.

In addition, a forum Bicara HEPA titled ‘Bina Negara dan Bangsa’ will be held on 8 August 2022 at 10.00 am, and the Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, will deliver the keynote address.

The programme will be moderated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, while the panel consisted of the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Deputy Director of the Electoral Academy (APR), Norlinah Jamman and UMP Alumnus Farrah Ain Madzlan.

Empower ECER entrepreneurs are also given the opportunity to participate in the expo at the UMP Expoconvo site.
