Once failed to go abroad, Nur Khairiyah recipient of Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang) now works in Germany
PAYA BESAR, 5 November 2022 - The failure to continue study in Germany a long time ago has never discouraged Nur Khairiyah Hibatullah Md Rosley, 25 and has even given high motivation to continue to move forward and pursue dreams.
Nur Khairiyah is a graduand of a dual degree programme, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Automotive Engineering (collaboration programme with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, HKA, Germany)
She successfully obtained a grade of 1.3* (awarded by Hochschule Karlsruhe - University of Applied Sciences, Karlsruhe, Germany) and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.82 at UMP, and she was named the recipient of the Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang) at the UMP 17th Convocation Ceremony presented by the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor in the first session.
This Baden-Württemberg Stipendium Full Scholarship recipient in 2021 also received the Best Student of the Year Award (Academic Excellence Award) from PEKA 5 UMP in 2018.
She was born in Papar, Sabah, the youngest child of Md Rosley Mohd Lair, 58 and Aliah Fatihah Abdullah, 58 and received her initial education at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Cheng Hwa, Papar, Papar Middle School Sabah and MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Tun Mohammad Fuad Stephens, Sandakan, Sabah.
Hence, it is not surprising that in terms of language proficiency, she can speak and write in four languages: Malay, English, Chinese, and German.
She thinks the learning approach at UMP benefits students, for example through collaborative programmes with other universities abroad such as Germany, China, Indonesia and many others.
“Industry collaboration programmes to a global level such as VAC Hanau, Germany are able to open opportunities for students to undergo internships and get jobs abroad.
“This initiative increases the graduate employability and spreads the potential of students widely.
“The opportunity to continue studying in Germany is a valuable sweet memory for me.
“I have gained a lot of interesting experiences from multiple perspectives,” she said.
It was more meaningful when she successfully completed a five-month final year project at the renowned company Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co. KG, Hanau, Jerman.
She hoped to be able to contribute and be the national pride, especially the parents, UMP and Vacuumschmelze (VAC).
Meanwhile, she also motivated other students, especially from the dual degree programmes at UMP so that more students have the opportunity to gain learning and living experience in Germany or other countries.
She currently serves as a Product and Process Engineer in the Research and Development (R&D) Department at Vacuumschmelze (VAC) GmbH & Co. KG, Hanau, Jerman.
She is also the only Malaysian working at the company in Germany.
VAC is an international company and its headquarters is located in Hanau, Germany.
Nur Khairiyah not only excelled in academics but also represented UMP Pekan in frisbee sports in 2017 to 2021, gained third place in the German Negaraku Vibe Festival (singing) and represented UMP in the Mandarin Singing Competition for University and College Students in 2019 at the Kong Zi Institute, Universiti Malaya (UM).
She also made UMP proud when she obtained the Excellence Award in the Chinese Bridge Competition at the Kong Zi Institute, UM in 2018 and 2019.
