AYER KEROH, 22 February 2022 – Two books jointly published between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Press and Abad Sinergi Sdn. Bhd. has received two prestigious awards in the National Book Award Ceremony 2022 (ABN 2022) through the writings of Datuk Associate Professor Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi bin Hashim@Wan Husain from the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI).

The event, held at Panggung Seri, the National Department of Culture and Arts Complex, Melaka, was a recognition by the National Book Development Foundation (YPBN), National Professors Council (MPN) and Melaka Malay Language Board.

In the event, the work by Dr. Wan Ahmad Fauzi titled Mahaguru Rahman Sendo received the ABN 2022 for the Biography and Autobiographical Book Writing Award category, while his other book titled Silat Seni Gayong Philosophy Falsafah dan Perjuangan received the Sociocultural and Heritage Book Award.

In the same event, Tun Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam was the main recipient of ABN 2022 for the National Book Publishing Leadership Figure Category.

He received Gubahan Tanjak as the main prize, trophy and certificate.

According to Muhammad Azli Shukri, Director of UMP Press, this success was undoubtedly the result of efforts from various parties and departments.

“The strategy of co-publishing collaboration with the industry is the right move in the uncertain economic environment.

“In addition to building good relationships with industry players, such collaborations can provide an avenue for UMP Press to explore various external grants that have the potential to improve the university’s publications and research outcomes.

“More interestingly, both books are the outcomes of industry consultation and research grants received by the authors and jointly published between Abad Sinergi Sdn. Bhd. And UMP Press,” he said.

He added that this contributed to the achievement and improvement of university publishing data.

For the record, ABN was first organised in 2010 and since then, UMP Press has received six ABN in various categories and is aggressively participating in it every year.
