FSTI recognises excellent students

KUANTAN, 11 December 2020 - The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FSTI), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) from celebrating 451 excellent students during the Dean’s Award and Student Excellence Ceremony 2020 that was held online via Google Meet recently.
The ceremony was officiated by the Senior Dean of the College of Computing and Applied Sciences, Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzaini Abdullah Arshah.
Also present were the Dean of FSTI, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahman and Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs), Ts. Dr. Saifful Kamaluddin Muzakir@Lokman.
Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzaini congratulated the organiser and all the excellent FSTI students and hoped for more of this success in the future.
“May this excellence continue throughout the university’s ecosystem,” he said.
He also encouraged the students to continue their studies to a higher level.
“For graduates that choose an entrepreneurship career, may you become an entrepreneur who gives back to society.
“UMP emphasises student competency not only from an academic standpoint but also from moral values and integrity.
“Know that besides excellent academic growth, soft skills will also be pursued by employers and are needed to be a successful entrepreneur,” he said.
He added that in the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 (UMP25), UMP aims for graduates to not only be marketed locally but also earn their place on the international stage.
“Besides that, UMP also intends to create students who are competent and contribute to society.
“Currently, there are four colleges established to improve the academic governance of the whole university.
“For the College of Computing and Applied Sciences, it has under it the Faculty of Computing, the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology and the Centre for Mathematical Sciences.”
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hasbi also expressed his gratitude to all FSTI students.
Although it is awkward to celebrate students’ victory through the new norms, it is hoped that this programme can still be celebrated as a mark of the students’ excellence.
