Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie appointed 5th UMP Vice-Chancellor

PEKAN, 1 March 2022 - The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, 60, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) effective 1 March 2022.

Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) before continuing his study in Commerce at the University of Wollongong, Australia in 1992.

He also had a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1997.

Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie who had been performing the function of UMP Vice-Chancellor since 29 August also has extensive experience in management when he was appointed for 11 years as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni).

This makes volunteerism an important university agenda in producing skilled students and concerned UMP associates in line with the UMP slogan ‘Technology for Society’.

He, who began serving at UMP in 2009, also held the Dean of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) position in 2010.

Before that, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie had served USM for 11 years.

“I hope UMP associates can jointly carry out the planned activities to ensure that the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 (UMP25) can be well implemented and achieved,” he said at the Tun Abdul Razak Chancellery Building, UMP Pekan this morning.

He was welcomed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Registrar/Chief Operating Officer, Hazmin Aris and Bursar, Zainuddin Othman.

He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) for the appointment and to Professor Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff for his good leadership and performance in leading UMP during his tenure as the 4th Vice-Chancellor.
