Remain 5-star achievement, UMP focuses on improving higher education quality

PEKAN, 4 January 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will continue to strengthen its efforts in advancing and expanding higher education by focusing on higher level education and Technical and Vocational Training (TVET).

Various efforts are being developed to focus on improving the country’s technical capabilities, including through the offering of industry-driven academic programmes to produce holistic graduates.

For QS Stars University Ratings 2022 evaluation assessed by the Rating System Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating, UMP managed to maintain its 5 star achievement based on overall achievement until 18 January 2025.

According to Professor Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who performs the function of the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, the university also focuses on collaboration networking between UMP and local and foreign industries to further enhance the technical capabilities of both sides.

“UMP has managed to earn five stars for eight categories, namely teaching, employability, internationalisation, research, facilities, strength of academic programme (Mechanical Engineering), innovation and inclusiveness.

“To achieve this goal, the university has drafted the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 by focusing on new knowledge exploration elements through research and innovation activities, internationalisation and graduate entrepreneurship in related fields to improve the quality of education globally.

“The elements of university financial sustainability and strengthening the excellence of the university ecosystem are also emphasised, including efforts towards making UMP a smart and sustainable campus that will benefit more than 12,000 students of this university,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to the university residents and hoped that this continuous effort would continue to make UMP one of the best in playing an important role in improving the country’s technical capabilities.

UMP is now also on the right track to be ranked 129th best in Asia in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asia 2022 announced by the international rating agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds.
