UMP first time listed in world rating THE WUR 2023

PEKAN, 12 October 2022 - For the first time Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is ranked 801 to 1,000 for the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) rating announced today.

More proudly, UMP ranks eighth out of 22 Higher Education Institutions (IPTs) in Malaysia and is the best university in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

This achievement is based on five key indications, namely Teaching, Research, Citation, Income from Industry and International Surveys.
This edition has listed 1,799 universities from all over the world.

UMP is also ranked 635 for International Survey Indicators evaluated based on three aspects, namely International Students, International Staff and International Collaboration.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the UMP’s excellence in this indicator shows the positive development of UMP at the international level and is even more meaningful as UMP celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

“The university will continue to expand its international network of academic and research collaboration as well as strengthen the university’s ties to several countries including Germany, China and Kazakhstan and will be extended to the USA and other European countries.

“UMP had also succeeded before when it was ranked 301 to 400 in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE Impact) which was also the university’s first entry.

“The THE Impact rating is a global rating system that evaluates the university’s efforts towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations (UN),” he said.

In addition, he said, UMP would strengthen its role as a technological university in MTUN to realise the agenda of empowering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at all levels.
