UMP Postgraduate Open Day opportunity for prospective students to further study

PEKAN, 5 June 2021 - The public and prospective students had the opportunity to meet the staff and lecturers of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) virtually at the Postgraduate Open Day held online on 5 and 6 June recently. It was the best platform for prospective students to obtain information related to postgraduate programmes offered by UMP on a full- or part-time basis and provide an opportunity for all potential candidates to choose UMP as their next higher education institution.

The open day, which was broadcast live via UMP Malaysia’s Facebook, also received full cooperation from the Centre for Marketing and Academic Intake (PPKA), Academic & International Affairs Department (JHEAA), Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), College/Faculty and related Responsibility Centres (PTJ).

According to PPKA Director, Helmi Mohamed Isa, this digital marketing programme is now one of the new norms implemented as the country is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Previously, 90% of the marketing activities of academic programmes were done physically, but due to the National Security Council (MKN) directive and regulations at the university level, it was done online.

“This year’s event targets potential candidates from both within the country and abroad as well as among UMP students who wish to further their studies to a higher level,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), Professor Datin Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim said, 12 slots were broadcast in conjunction with this open day, including the briefing on the programmes offered by the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology (FSTI), Faculty of Computing (FK) and Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM).

“On the second day, the programme involved the Centre for Modern Languages (PBM), Centre for Human Sciences (PSM), Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Centre for International Relations (PuHA), Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA) and Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering (FTKPM).

“Prospective students will also have the opportunity to obtain information on sponsorship and funding including Doctoral Research Scheme (DRS) and Master Research Scheme (MRS), Yayasan UMP, PTPTN, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Yayasan Pahang Education Loan and Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS) for international students,” she said.
