Yayasan UMP Sulung Scholarship especially for B40 students

BATU PAHAT, 17 February 2022 - The only child or first child in a B40 family who successfully pursues study in the university and is offered to study at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to pursue a diploma and bachelor’s degree program has the opportunity to receive the Sulung Scholarship under Yayasan UMP.

It is a motivation for other family members to improve academic performance.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who performs the functions of the UMP Vice-Chancellor, this initiative is in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s (MoHE) aspiration to introduce the Malaysian Family Eldest Student Development Programme (SULUNG) to help boost the economy of students from the B40 group.

“The SULUNG programme will focus on efforts to help B40 students whose family members have never set foot in the ivory tower.

“A total of RM100,000 is offered as the seed money under Yayasan UMP Sulung Scholarship for eligible students from the next semester,” he said.

He received a visit from the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who visited the UMP booth in Jom Masuk IPT in conjunction with the Malaysian Family KPT Carnival held at the MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Batu Pahat.

Also present was the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.

The carnival took place from 17 to 19 February to provide information and academic advice on admission to IPT for school students in preparation for stepping into the university.

UPUOnline Admission Application is still open until 31 March 2022 and further information can be obtained through BPKP social media page.
