UMP offers Science and Technology Foundation Programme

PEKAN, 25 March 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is offering a Science and Technology Foundation Programme that will provide opportunities for students interested in pursuing their studies in premier programmes such as the UMP-Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HKA) Germany dual degree programme and the UMP-China dual degree programme.

This programme offers another pathway to enter the university for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders. They can choose to continue their studies in the conventional programmes conducted at the faculty or the premier programmes.

Usually, form five students who complete their secondary education by obtaining SPM can prepare for university admission by attending a 1-year matriculation programme or studying at the upper secondary school for another two years to obtain the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM).

According to the Dean of the UMP Diploma and Foundation Centre, Associate Professor Dr. Roslinazairimah Zakaria, the programme is conducted for one year, involving three semesters with 12 weeks per semester and a minimum of 50 credit hours.

“Students will be taught courses such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics as well as language courses (English and German/Mandarin), Basic Programming and Introduction to Data Science.

“By entering UMP after form five, we hope that they can adapt to life at the university and its environment, stay with UMP and achieve excellent results in pursuing their first degree in science and technology.

“Students also do not have to go through the UPU selection process to pursue their degree at UMP after successfully pursuing their foundation programme,” she said when she met with 17 students who started returning to campus to attend face-to-face academic activities after studying online due to the spread of COVID-19.

For those interested in applying for admission directly to the Diploma/Science and Technology Programme in July 2022, UMP can obtain information by visiting
