“The six-month industrial training at Ardhmillenia Sdn. Bhd. has attracted me to develop my career in environmental management.

“I started to see job opportunities that I could join,” she said.

She is grateful today that she achieved her ambition to be an environmental scientist in the same company.

Farhana received the award presented by the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor on the first day of the UMP 16th Convocation Ceremony at UMP Gambang.

From an early age, she spent a lot of time reading books from various genres to increase her knowledge of various things.

She was born in Kuala Lumpur on 20 January 1998 and now resides in Puchong, Selangor.

She was an active student in various association activities such as being the secretary of the Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering Technology (PROTECH), director of the Aspirasi MyGift UMP 2019 programme and a member of the ‘Hulurkan Tangan Ringankan Beban’ committee with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA).

In addition, Farhana was involved in sports activities and had represented the faculty in the bowling event for the SUKFAC 2019 competition.

As a UMP graduate, she thinks that UMP has provided complete facilities in terms of accommodation, cafeteria, locations and adequate learning tools to help facilitate students’ daily affairs.

Farhana is also pleased with the green and modern atmosphere of the UMP campus which can create a calm and conducive environment for students to focus on studying.

Apart from that, this excellent graduand is also proud of the local and international UMP lecturers and instructors who come from various fields and never stop imparting knowledge and guidance to the students.

She also added that among the unique values of UMP is that it has always improved the learning syllabus in terms of theory and technical skills following the needs of the industry today.

“The lecturers not only emphasise academics but also apply high discipline to the students in order to apply knowledge as best they can when entering the working environment,” she said.

“Throughout my study at UMP, I enjoyed every moment as a student and one of the experiences that is dear to my heart was the opportunity to engage in CSR MTUN Benevolence Assistance Malaysia-Thailand volunteer activities with PROTECH in Songkhla, Thailand.

“Among the activities carried out were teaching children, painting buildings and cooking with the villagers,” she said.

She added that the programme had successfully fostered the value of being grateful for what is available and the compassion and love for fellow human beings.

“I consider my family the biggest contributor to my success, especially the financial and motivational support.

“Apart from that, the lecturers and friends also helped me and never stopped giving me guidance when needed.

“Among the tasks entrusted was to be the person in charge (PIC) for an embankment project in Melaka by conducting an environmental impact study (EIA) and writing an EIA report.

“It aims to determine the impacts of the proposed development on the environment, social and health,” she said.

She also said that the task required a high level of commitment as it often involved site visits across the country.

She was also proud that the assignment aligned with the knowledge learned at UMP in the energy and environmental engineering technology field.

Through this work, she hopes to apply the technical knowledge and skills learned at UMP by contributing ideas and expertise to the community, especially concerning environmental sustainability.
