Appreciation and Task Handover Ceremony of Registrar

PEKAN, 18 March 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) organised an appreciation ceremony for Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ridzuan Darun, who had assumed the responsibility as Registrar/Chief Operating Officer for two years from 15 March 2019 to 14 March 2021.
During that period, he had performed well, especially in the leadership transition of the Vice-Chancellor, Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, restructuring of administrative operations, mapping of UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 and managing the university administration during the COVID-19 pandemic since 25 January 2020.
According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff, leaders must embody their institution in the context of the UMP vision, mission, philosophy and core values.
“From there, synergy based on the unity of thought sets in,” he said.
He expressed his deepest gratitude for all the services and contributions of Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ridzuan throughout his duty and will continue to support the newly appointed Registrar.
Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Ridzuan also thanked the UMP management, especially the Vice-Chancellor and all administrators who had given their trust and always supported the university’s transformation agenda.
“It is still fresh in my memory the first day when the Vice-Chancellor reported for duty.
“Among the things that had been discussed was the latest structural change agenda that is appropriate to the current and future situation.
“Alhamdulillah, this transition has been successfully implemented, and apart from that, we are also responsible for strengthening the governance of UMP.
“I am confident that UMP residents can see the positive impact on the university ecosystem,” he said in the ceremony held at the Banquet Hall, Tun Abdul Razak Chancellery in UMP Pekan.
He was also grateful for the support of the administrators, who are very committed to performing their duties.
“Without them, I would not have been able to do well,” he said.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli and the Registrar/Chief Operating Officer, Hazmin Aris, as well as the university’s top management officers.
At the same time, there was also a handover ceremony to the new Registrar, Hazmin Aris, 50, who has assumed the Registrar/Chief Operating Officer position from 15 March 2021.
He has served for 18 years at UMP before being a Senior Deputy Registrar, Research and Innovation Department. He has served in several other departments, including the Centre for Corporate and Quality Affairs, Registry Department, Institute of Postgraduate Studies, and Academic Management Division.
Meanwhile, during the 19 years of the university’s establishment, UMP has been through the administration of four Vice-Chancellors, four Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Academic and International), four Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Research and Innovation), one Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) and seven Registrars.
