ICSECS and ICoCSIM discuss efforts to empower digital community with advanced technology

PEKAN, 22 September 2021 - The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) and the rapid development of disruptive technologies including digital technology are seen to have the potential to change the economic and social landscape around the world.

This change is also driven by the current world situation with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic which is seen to have accelerated the wave of change in adapting the digitalisation of daily life.

Millions of Malaysians use virtual methods for e-commerce, entertainment and education.

The delivery of quality education now depends on broadband connectivity in student residences and access to laptops or computers.

In fact, the use of new technologies, especially digital technology, also ensures the overall society development.

A total of 126 papers were presented discussing the efforts to empower the digital society with this advanced technology and will be published in the IEEE Xplore database in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Software Engineering & Computer Systems (ICSECS 2021) and the 4th International Conference of Computational Science and Information Management (ICoCSIM. 2021).

The conference was officiated by the Chairman of the Board of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman.

Also present were the fourth UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusof, Senior Dean of the College of Computing and Applied Sciences, Professor Ts. Dr. Ruzaini Abdullah Arshah and the Dean of Faculty of Computing (FK), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Adzhar Kamaludin.

According to Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz, the conference was a forum of the international research community, academics, scientists, students, practitioners and vendors on all aspects of software engineering, computer systems research, computer science and information management.

“The impact of COVID-19 on the digital community requires rapid access and availability of digital services.
“In fact, it involves many daily activities in working, shopping and interacting.

“To increase the country’s readiness in conquering the digital economy, the government has prepared the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint which will benefit the community, business and government,” he said.

He further explained that technology, data and digital intelligence could improve digital skills and the quality of online services in various sectors.

Themed Advancing Digital Society with Advanced Technology, the programme organised by FK UMP received encouraging responses with the collaboration of 14 international universities. 

The participation involved academics, students and researchers from Bina Nusantara University (Indonesia), Jazan University (Arab Saudi), Hadhramout University (Yaman), Muscat College (Oman), Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology (India) and State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta (Indonesia).

Other institutions involved were Telkom University (Indonesia), United International University (Bangladesh), University of Santo Tomas (Filipina), Universitas Mataram, Lombok (Indonesia), AMIK Tunas Bangsa, Pematangsiantar (Indonesia), Universitas Sumatera Utara (Indonesia), Universitas Bumigora (Indonesia) and Politeknik Negeri Medan (Indonesia).
