UMP and AITO Firework collaborate in the field of fire safety

Pekan, 14 July 2020 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and AITO Firework Holding Sdn. Bhd. (AITO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop learning management system modules and research partnerships related to the field of fire safety. 

The collaboration includes the development of the latest knowledge, technology and research in the field of fire safety.

The MoU document was signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology (FSTI), Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim.

Meanwhile, AITO was represented by its Director General, Aswan Khamis and Mohd Isa Razhali. 

Also present was Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Fadzil Mohd Idris, who is the project leader from FSTI.

According to Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rosli, UMP immensely appreciates the commitment of AITO which has been very positive since the beginning of the collaboration with FSTI in the field of fire safety with the public and to comply with the fire safety requirements for buildings or premises within the law prescribed.

“This is a positive sign that proves the university’s readiness to increase the awareness of UMP denizens on the importance of cultivating and practising health and building safety in their respective premises. 

“The cooperation between these two organisations takes place through the sharing of knowledge and information on fire safety education to students and the public, within its capacity as a public university.

“As a training provider centre based on the expertise and skills available at AITO Fireworks Holding Sdn. Bhd., the data and information obtained will be generated and value-added through the development of learning management system modules and research partnerships between AITO and FSTI UMP,” he said.

He said that spatial fire involving a building or factory will cause a significant impact on property, health and life. 

“Fires can be caused by various factors, and higher education institutions (HEI) are also not spared from this disaster.

He added that, as a public university, UMP always strives to expand its collaboration network with competent local or international strategic partners in line with the UMP Strategic Plan 2016-2020.

Meanwhile, Aswan Khamis thanked UMP for this collaboration and hoped that this collaboration could have a positive impact on both sides in addition to exploring other opportunities for mutual benefits.

Recently, UMP managed to reduce the likelihood of a fire and recorded zero cases in 2019, and it is hoped that it will sustain in the coming year. 

This collaboration is hoped to encourage the advancement of the online technology-based education system in the country in line with the advances in the ICT.

AITO Firework Holding Sdn. Bhd., is a Bumiputera-status company offering sales and servicing of various fire-fighting equipment, installation of fire fighting systems, providing fire safety seminar and training, as well as supplying personal protection and safety equipment.
