UMP prioritises safety, student welfare as students return to campus

KUANTAN, 7 October 2021 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will always ensure that the safety and welfare of students are a priority especially as students return to campus in stages, which will begin on 15 October.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who acts as the Vice-Chancellor, during this pandemic period, safety and health aspects have been a priority based on the standard operating procedures (SOP) outlined.

“In preparation, the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and UMP have prepared several action plans for the admission process of students to the campus to ensure that student safety is emphasised and students can study in a conducive manner.

“At the same time, I ask that students who are at home and who will return to campus to take care of themselves and their health,” he said in a speech during the Doa Selamat and Solat Hajat Perdana ceremony in conjunction with the registration of new and returning students to campus recently.

Representing the top management of UMP, he also welcomed the students who will return to campus for the teaching and learning session in the new academic session.

“Welcome to new students who have been successfully placed at UMP,” he said.

“I would also like to advise all UMP students to have high determination and enthusiasm in achieving UM’s agenda of excellence and glory.

“I would also like to thank the parents who are willing to spend their time to make this programme a success and hopefully this collaboration can continue in the future,” he said.

The Doa Selamat and Solat Hajat Perdana ceremony, in conjunction with the registration of new students returning to campus, was held in a hybrid manner at the UMP Mosque in Gambang and Pekan Campuses through the Google Meet and Facebook UMPMalaysia platforms.

Also present was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Chief Operating Officer/Registrar, Hazmin Aris and university management.

The online recitation of surah Yasin and doa selamat was led by Islamic Affairs Officer, Ustaz Md Abdu Sahak.
