UMP Women’s Association donates school attire

PEKAN, 22 March 2023 - Concerned with the school preparation of the local community, the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Women’s Association (Matahari) organised the Back To School (BTS) 2023 Programme at the Auditorium Hall, UMP Pekan Library.

The donation was presented by the President of Matahari, Datin Dr. Hajah Mazita Mokhtar to over 20 children in need.

According to Datin Dr. Hajah Mazita, this programme is a social initiative that aims to help underprivileged families, especially those of the B40 group.

In this programme, they gave Mydin vouchers worth RM150 to each recipient.

She hoped that this assistance could ease the burden on the family by providing school supplies for the school session that would begin soon.

She said this assistance would be a starting point for children who received help to study hard for the future.

One of the recipients and a single mother, Rosilah Abdullah thanked Matahari UMP for helping ease her burden of buying school clothes.

She said, with the income from cleaning fish, the cost of buying high school clothes for her two children is quite high.

“With this donation, I can buy the clothes and the salary can be used to pay school fees.

“I am very moved by this contribution, to be honest, the establishment of UMP in Pekan has benefited many local communities, especially in Pekan, ” she said.

Also present were Matahari’s Vice President, Hajah Paridah Mohd Ali and the committee.

At the same event, flood contribution was also handed over to five Matahari members affected by the recent flood.
