UMP obtains KPT-CAP Penjana Grant to assist graduates

KUANTAN, 8 October 2021 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), through the Centre of Alumni Relations and Graduate Employability, has successfully obtained the KPT-Career Advancement Programme (CAP)@State Penjana grant amounting to RM2,587,200.

According to the Director of the Centre of Alumni Relations and Graduate Employability, Ir. Ts. Dr. Siti Zubaidah Sulaiman, KPT-Career Advancement Program (CAP)@State Penjana grant is one of the government’s initiatives in an effort to reduce the abundance of unemployed graduates during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“UMP will act as the programme coordinator while Kolej Yayasan Pahang Advanced Skills will be appointed as the training provider.

“Three programmes will be implemented involving at least 500 participants among public university (UA) graduates who are from Pahang.

“The three programmes are Business Jr. worth RM517,440,Niaga.Com worth RM517,440 and Offshore Marine in Hospitality amounting to RM1,552,320,” she said.

She said all these programmes will be implemented within 30 days and are open to diploma and bachelor’s degree students who graduate from 2019 to 2021.

“The Offshore Marine in Hospitality Management programme will provide opportunities to 300 graduates, and all these graduates will be promised employment opportunities upon successful completion of the programme.

“Meanwhile, the other two programmes under the entrepreneurship category, namely Business Jr. and Niaga.com, will provide opportunities for 100 graduates for each programme.

“Graduates who complete the programme under this entrepreneurship category will receive a grant of RM3,000 each to start a business,” she said.

This grant is a contribution from Yayasan Pahang with a total amount of RM600,000.

UMP graduates need to grab the opportunity and give their utmost commitment when participating in this programme.

This grant will also enable graduates to get employment opportunities in facing today’s highly competitive employment landscape.
