CITREX UMP showcases 279 students’ and researchers’ innovative products

GAMBANG, 14 March 2023 - The 13th Creation, Innovation, Technology & Research Exposition (CITREX), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) 2023 exhibition saw 84 gold medalists, 146 silver medallists and 36 bronze medallists with 279 entries from staff, IPT students and school students.

The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin was present to officiate the programme.

Also present were the member of the University’s Board of Directors, Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Faizal Jamlos and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, the 13th CITREX programme proved the seriousness of UMP in interpreting its existence as a public university (UA) that seriously produces a great group of researchers.

“It is also a medium for producing and compiling works that can be utilised to solve problems faced by the global community in line with UMP’s slogan of Technology for Society.

“UMP hopes to produce competitive and quality products and researchers that can be contested at a higher level,” he said.

In addition to UMP staff and students, the participation involved staff and students from IPTA and IPTS throughout Malaysia including Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Islam Internasional Malaysia (UIAM), Polytechnic, Tunku Abdul Rahman University and others.

This CITREX maintained that the judging process involving juries from industry, government agencies and external academia.

Among the industries present were Kaneka, Cybersecurity Malaysia, Sime Darby, MRANTI, MTDC, SIRIM, YP Plantation Holdings, Perodua, Indah Water Konsortium, MARDI, Mercedes Benz, Hicom Automotive, MZR Global Sdn. Bhd., Department of Environment and Department of Occupational Safety and Health.

The programme saw the Best of the Best award won by Dr. Hajar Fauzan Ahmad with a project titled ‘Triumph Medico: Next-Generation Diagno’ and Best of the Best category was won by Mohd Akid Shazri Mohd Shapari with the project title‘Agronetics Data Monitoring Device’.

Also held was the Innovative Idea Pitching Competition 2023, a platform for university researchers in preparation to promote their findings, innovations and research outcomes, especially to potential investors and industry players.

In introducing the idea, the commercialisation of the university could also be highlighted in line with the university’s commitment to improving academic quality, research development and services.
