PUTRAJAYA, 2 September 2022 – Lecturer from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Dr. Roshahliza M. Ramli was selected for the final stage through the KALAM-ON-THE-GO project for the Virtual Immersive Learning and Blended Innovation category in the Special Award of the Minister of Higher Education: Curriculum Design and Innovative Delivery in 2022 (AKRI 2022).

The AKRI 2022 ceremony, held to recognise outstanding, creative and innovative lecturers in teaching and learning (T&L), was graced by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad at the Everly Hotel Putrajaya recently.

Also present were the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed.

In her officiating address, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini said the Institution of Higher Learning (IPT) should be bold enough to break through the boundaries of existing achievements and champion the new paradigm by providing exceptional added value to stakeholders.

“There are two things to consider when developing a new curriculum design.

“First, the curriculum developed should be able to help academics plan a holistic learning environment considering the current and future situations.

“Second, the curriculum should also be able to help students learn beyond their current level of knowledge.

“Therefore, the aspects of strategic and material used in the curriculum design are very important, especially in producing a more exciting T&L experience,” she said.

Meanwhile, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie said the programme has successfully identified, recognised and provided a platform for sharing best practices of projects and initiatives that have been implemented either at the institutional or individual level.

“UMP constantly diversifies initiatives to highlight innovation and empower T&L to foster effective immersive learning.

“UMP lecturers are encouraged to strive to make an interactive learning experience either through virtual immersive learning or blended immersive learning which combines online and face-to-face learning as well as face-to-face immersive learning (physical) that impacts students’ learning achievement,” he said.
