UMP will host 2022 Public University Golf Tournament

SHAH ALAM, 8 December 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will be chosen as the host for the 49th Malaysian Public University Golf Tournament ahead of UMP’s 20th Anniversary Celebration next year.

The announcement was made by the Public University Golf Captains during the 48th Malaysian Public University Golf Tournament, which saw Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as the host.

The programme took place at three golf courses around Shah Alam, namely Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf & Country Club, from 7 to 8 December 2021.

A total of 296 golfers from public universities (UA) were involved, and UMP was joined by ten players led by UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asaari Mohamed Nor and UMP Chief Financial Officer/Bursar, Zainudin Othman, who participated in the VVIP Category.

Meanwhile, four players participated in the Gross category and four for the Nett category.

According to the Director of the Centre for Sports and Culture, Professor Dato’ Ts. Major (K), Ts. Dr. Rosli Abu Bakar, the UMP team for the VVIP category was in 11th place out of 48 players.

“For the Gross category, UMP is in the 12th place out of 52 participants, while for the Nett category, the UMP team is in the 10th place out of 116 players.

“UMP is also proud to be given the honour and trust to host this prestigious competition next year,” he said.

He hoped that golf tournaments like this could be continued to further strengthen the close relationship of all golfers among UA staff in the country.

The tournament saw Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) team emerge as tournament champion, followed by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as the runner-up and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) in third place.
