OKU student, twins and siblings among 1,459 new students enrolled at UMP
KUANTAN, 13 November 2022 - Identical twins and siblings stole the spotlight at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Vice-Chancellor’s Mandate Ceremony in conjunction with Student Induction Week 2022 and the New Student Pledge Reading Ceremony.
Twins Nur Farisha Dayani Abdullah and Nur Farisha Dayana Abdullah both continued their studies in the Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology (Building) with Honours programme.
Both are very excited to be able to further their studies in the same field.
Meanwhile, Nik Ahmad Zaher Nik Hasni is continuing his study in the Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology (Building) with Honours and his younger brother Nik Ahmad Idries Nik Hasni is continuing his study in the Civil Engineering Foundation programme.
Not forgetting the student with hearing problems and difficulty in using tools, Brandon Ting Yi Zhen who enrolled for Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Industrial Chemistry with Honours.
The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin was present for a meet and greet with new students at UMP Sports Complex, Gambang Campus.
According to him, UMP has established the UMP OKU Service Unit (OkUMP) by creating a more inclusive and conducive campus to OKU students.
“In addition, Yayasan UMP also provides various assistance, incentives and initiatives to help students.
“We also have the Yayasan UMP Sulung Scholarship for B40 students whose family members have never set foot in the ivory tower, Education Incentive for underprivileged students and Special Excellence Incentive for outstanding students who have chosen UMP as the main university of choice,” he said.
Other incentives are the Excellence Incentive, UMP Scholarship, Laptop Assistance, UMP Campus Pantry, Zakat Assistance for Muslim students, Subsistence Assistance for non-Muslim students, Disaster Assistance and many others.
These students are among the 1,459 new students who started to register via a drive-through on 11 and 12 October.
The drive-through registration of UMP new students was carried out at both campuses.
Students only need to register physically and collect the room key via drive-through and finish less than two minutes for each student as a convenience and comfort for families and students.
