UMP students use Kad Prihatin Siswa instead of matric cards

PEKAN, 28 October 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) students are now using Kad Prihatin Siswa (RHB Debit-i Card) as a Student Matrix Card after a total of 12,615 students activated their cards gradually since 18 October involving both UMP campuses in Pekan and Gambang.

Kad Prihatin Siswa, an initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) together with Public Universities in Malaysia and RHB Bank, is an initiative for financial savings, cashless, smart campus, and student identity, and creates a better financial ecosystem involving students, university management, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and MOHE.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, UMP welcomed this effort and was the second university to implement this initiative after the first implementation at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) on 13 October.

“It will also empower and diversify the functions of the matric card of Higher Education Institution (HEI) students and facilitate the distribution of provisions or financial assistance directly to student accounts.

“In addition, this initiative is also a transformation of the financial ecosystem at HEI towards synchronising facilities and offers or privileges, rewards or promotions to HEI students.

“This effort also aligns with the wishes of the university which emphasises the digitalisation aspect of IR4.0 and towards smart campuses,” he said.

Recently, a visit from RHB Bank Berhad took place to monitor the implementation of the handover process and card activation and discuss the collaborative relationship that can be utilised by both parties including the proposal to expand the use of this card for funding channels, special cards for UMP Alumni and other facilities for staff.

In this programme, UMP received RM10,000 in zakat contributions from RHB Bank to help needful students as a social responsibility.

The contribution was made by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of RHB, Dato’ Adissadikin Ali to the UMP Bursar, Zainuddin Othman.

Also present were the Head of Islamic Business Development RHB Bank, Razali Hisham, Director of East Coast Branch, Effendi Razak, Senior Manager of Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Haryani Abdullah, Senior Manager of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Abd Rahman Haji Safie and the Chief Executive of Yayasan UMP, Mohd Jamil Mohd Jaafar.
