UMP ranked 201-250 best in THE Asia ranking

PEKAN, 23 June 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) continues to excel when ranked 201-250 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2023 (THE Asia) for the first time this year.

Assessments were made based on teaching and learning (25%), research (30%), citations (30%), internationalisation (7.5%) and industry (7.5%).
  
This success puts UMP in the ninth best position in Malaysia and first in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, UMP will always ensure the quality of its academic programmes to equip graduates with relevant technical knowledge and be able to meet the needs of the country’s main industrial sectors so that the country’s economy remains globally competitive in line with the agenda of the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025.

“UMP will continue to excel in research and innovation in the future to enhance UMP’s technological capabilities through the number of high-impact product inventions and new discoveries or technologies that will greatly benefit the community and internationally.

“This position further supports UMP’s reputation as a world-recognised educational and research institution.

“UMP will continue to strengthen strategic collaboration with industries, government agencies and alumni including international institutions in enhancing the excellence of internationalisation initiatives that can contribute to the national development agenda and compete globally,” he said.

He congratulated all staff and students who have supported UMP’s success in improving institutional performance at the Asian level and hoped that this ongoing commitment would highlight UMP’s reputation and branding among international institutions.

Also listed in the 2023 edition of THE Asia ranking are Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) #63, Universiti Malaya (UM) #66, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) #99, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) #149, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UUM) #154, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) #161, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) #168 and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) #170.
