UMPSA expands strategic collaboration with Istanbul Kultur University (IKU)

İSTANBUL, 26 February 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) expanded its strategic collaboration with Istanbul Kultur University (IKU), Turkiye, especially in the academic and research fields through the Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at IKU campus, Istanbul.

The MoU was signed by the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin and the Rector of IKU, Professor Dr. Fadime Uney Yüksektepe and witnessed by Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, Chairman of the University Board of Directors.

UMPSA is the first Malaysia strategic collaboration partnership of IKU and among the areas of collaboration that will be explored involve research activities in the field of science and technology, staff and student exchange programmes and publications.

In addition, the UMPSA delegation had the opportunity to hold a bilateral discussion session with IKU representatives involving collaborative activities that could be held in the near future to strengthen the internationalisation agenda of the respective institutions.

Also discussed were waqf initiatives and funding implemented at universities in Turkiye.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Yuserrie, UMPSA hopes that this kind of international collaboration networking can further boost the implementation of various academic, research and innovation activities as well as publications at this university and  contribute to the development of the national education system.

“Currently, UMPSA has 20 strategic collaborations with higher education institutions in Turkiye including Istanbul Technical University, Sakarya University, Karabuk University, Middle East Technical University and Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University,” he said.

Also present from the UMPSA were the Registrar, Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, Treasurer, Dato’ Zainudin Othman and Director of the Centre for International Relations, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Azmir Mohd Azhari.

Meanwhile, representatives from IKU were the Deputy Rector, Professor Dr. Burcu Titfiklioglu, Director of the International Relations Office, Taygun Altınta and Senior Officer of the International Relations Office, Ipek Çalışır Demir.
