UMP develops human capital for industry in Pahang
KUANTAN, 7 March 2023 - Confucius Institute (CI), Universiti Malaysia Pahang organised the Mandarin Technical Course Certificate Presentation Ceremony at the steel making plant, Alliance Steel (M) Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB) located in Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP).
The Mandarin Technical Course was offered to 68 of the factory’s workers from November 2022 to March 2023.
CI UMP Director Yong Ying Mei said the Mandarin Technical Course is offered to improve communication between Malaysian and Chinese staff more effectively.
“UMP develops human capital for Pahang by teaching the Mandarin Technical Course in metallurgy with different teaching contents according to the needs of the industry.
“UMP collaborates with ASSB in academic efforts with the community by meeting the needs of the industry to realise the glory of UMP education.
“To date, six CI UMP Mandarin teachers are serving at the CI UMP Teaching site at ASSB,” she said.
CI UMP offers Mandarin Technical Course in four factories in the ASSB industry, namely coking plant, iron making plant, steel rolling plant and steel making plant.
A total of 431 Malaysians working at ASSB had completed the Technical Mandarin Course organised by CI UMP from July 2022 to March 2023.
The Mandarin Technical Course is still being conducted for the 5th and 6th sessions at the steel rolling plant and iron making plant from March 2023 to June 2023.
The ceremony was also attended by the Equipment Deputy Director of Steel Making Plant, Li Honggang and Director of Corporate Management Department, Zheng Cunlin.
