Majlis Dekan-dekan Bahasa Universiti Awam (MaLDeC) and OMNiA Academy explore potential collaboration for educational advancement

PUTRAJAYA, 22 April 2024 - Key stakeholders from Majlis Dekan-dekan Bahasa Universiti Awam (MaLDeC) and OMNiA Academy Media Prima Sdn. Bhd. convened at the Ministry of Higher Education in Putrajaya. 

Chaired by the Dean of the Centre of Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Associate Profesor Dr. Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi, the meeting aimed to explore potential collaborations to enhance educational opportunities and foster academic excellence.

The meeting was represented by distinguished lineup, with language deans from prominent public universities across Malaysia including Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) in attendance. 

The representatives from Ministry of Higher Education, Senior Chief Assistant Director, Chandra Mohgan a/l Lechman and the Senior Assistant Director, Chong Xin Wei alongside representatives from OMNiA Academy, Ally Iskandar and Syamira Nazir.

The discussion covered a range of possible collaborations, emphasising the value of publicising education institutions' programs to spread the word about them and make them widely known.  

Potential initiatives being considered included inter-university programs and Service Learning Malaysia - University for Society (SULAM) programs.

Another focal point of discussion was the forthcoming Higher Education English Language Carnival 2024 (HE ELCa 2024). 

Scheduled to take place in the University Sports Complex, UMPSA grounds on 9 November 2024, this event aims to elevate English language competency among public university undergraduates. 

According to Ally, to bring university programs to the next level, promotion strategy is very important. 

“OMNiA can help institutions to ‘sexify’ such program and popularise the program among educational institutions as well as the general public,” he said.

The envisioned collaborations between OMNiA Academy and Malaysian public universities signify a paradigm shift in educational partnerships. 

By synergizing resources and expertise, these future alliances promise to chart new opportunities in academia.
Beyond academic prospects, such collaborations can also foster professional cultural exchange and understanding. 

By bringing together diverse experts in academia and broadcasting field, they lay the groundwork for a more interconnected and harmonious society.

It was evident that this gathering could serve as a platform for transformative change in the higher educational landscape of Malaysia.  

Together, higher education institutions and OMNiA Academy are steadfast in their efforts to raise educational standards via a common commitment to excellence.
