BALING, 8 July 2022 – A total of 25 KILAU UMP volunteers participated in the Postflood Care Assistance Mission in Baling by carrying out cleaning activities at two houses in Kampung Bendang Pecah, Baling Kedah which were badly affected by the flood.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, on the basis of concern for the disaster that has befallen the residents here, various efforts are being made by UMP and Yayasan UMP to ease the burden of the affected residents.

“The first group of volunteers moved earlier led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed who brought donations of essential items in the form of food, drinking water, sanitary napkins, disposable diapers and other necessities to be distributed to the residents at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jerai while the second group will follow through with the cleaning activities.

“In addition to cleaning the affected homes, we will continue to provide assistance in distributing foods donated by Yayasan UMP,” said the Deputy Chairman of Yayasan UMP.

He said the volunteers faced challenges such as low water pressure which made cleaning difficult.

“However, with the help of the villagers, activities can be carried out.

“This effort will continue by sending a team of volunteers to continue to help clean the residents’ houses in phase 2 from 13 to 15 July, involving a total of 31 people in Baling,” he said.
