3,556 UMP students graduate starting tomorrow for 4 days

KUANTAN, 16 March 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) will celebrate 3,556 graduates (2020) consisting of 234 doctoral and undergraduate students, 2,364 undergraduate and diploma students, and 958 UMP Advanced students who will receive their respective degrees and diplomas at the 15th UMP Convocation Ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled to last four days from 17 to 20 March 2022 at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Kuantan.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rosli Hainin, the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor will be present to confer the degrees and awards of excellence to a total of 533 recipients of bachelor’s and doctoral degrees and 37 awards and prizes of excellence including two Book Prizes and three Bachelor’s Project Prizes (PSM) in the first session in conjunction with the Convocation Ceremony which will start tomorrow.

“At the ceremony, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abi Musa will confer the degrees to 563 graduands in the second session, 506 graduands in the third session on 18 March (Friday), and 534 and 483 graduands in the fourth and fifth sessions on 19 March (Saturday), respectively.

“Meanwhile, the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin will attend on Sunday in the sixth session involving 510 UMP Advanced graduands who will receive an Executive Master’s degree in the morning, while in the afternoon session, 448 UMP Advanced graduands will receive the degrees of Executive Bachelor and Professional Diploma.

“Meanwhile, 45 graduands of the Professional Diploma of Competency-Based Talent Management who are directly involved with the management and leadership talent development initiative will graduate from the collaboration programme between UMP Advanced, a lifelong learning centre, and the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

“Only graduands who receive their degrees are allowed to be in the convocation hall to avoid mass gathering and it is limited to between 300 to 500 people per session,” he said in a press conference introducing the award recipients in conjunction with the 15th UMP Convocation Ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Kuantan.

Also present were the Director of the Centre for Academic Management, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Shahrir Mohd. Sani and Acting Registrar, Hazmin Aris.

UMP Convocation Ceremony is expected to be held three times this year to celebrate graduands who graduated in 2020 (March), 2021 (August) and 2022 (November).
