UMPSA distributes 2,000 packs of Bubur Lambuk and 500 packs of Gulai Kawah for community iftar

KUANTAN, 21 March 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) organized the UMPSA Bubur Lambuk Cooking programme, distributing over 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk and 500 packs of gulai kawah to the local community at the grounds of the Sultan Ahmad 1 Mosque in Kuantan.

The programme, organized by the Department of Student and Alumni Affairs (JHEPA), received cooperation from strategic partners Isuzu Hicom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and Maxis Berhad, who contributed to the successful cooking programme of eight kawah bubur and two gulai kawah for this year's iftar.

Also participating were UMPSA Advanced Education, UMP Holdings, the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering Technology, the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology, and the Sultan Ahmad 1 Mosque.

UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts, Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, was present to distribute the contributions, along with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed.

Senior Operations Manager of Isuzu Hicom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Nazman Mohd Nor, and Head of Region Maxis Broadband Kuantan, NarulHizam Ruslan, were also in attendance.

Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin highlighted that bubur lambuk is a popular dish during the fasting month in Malaysia.

"Every year, UMPSA collaborates to cook at the UMPSA mosque for distribution to students. However, this time, we worked together to cook since early morning, distributing as many as 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk and gulai kawah to the public here," he said.

He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of strategic partners and sponsors.

Additionally, UMPSA prepares iftar meals daily, with staff and students taking turns according to the schedule set by the Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN) for a total of 2,000 UMPSA students in the Pekan and Gambang campuses.

UMPSA continues to uphold the tradition of iftar, where meals are prepared in a talam to foster brotherhood among its citizens.

Throughout Ramadan, UMPSA organizes various activities to celebrate the month, including the Ramadan Festival with Tarawih Prayers, Tadarus, and Iftar Jamaie.

Other activities include the Kembara Singgah Sahur Programme, Orphans' Ziarah Mahabbah, UMPSA 2024 Sahur Ride, bubur lambuk cooking programme, Nuzul Quran Talk, Hafiz Ramadan Camp, Khatam Quran Hour Ceremony, Geng Subuh Macam Jumaat, Tahajud Call Final Acceleration, and the Creative Ramadan Writing Competition, providing opportunities for the campus and local communities to participate.
