Diligence and persistence are Muhammad Aslam’s secret to excel twice

GAMBANG, 21 October 2023 - The success of obtaining a second-class diploma with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.58 three years ago is the catalyst for Muhammad Aslam Zulkarnain, 23, to repeat the success while continuing his study at the bachelor’s level.

However, he did not expect to obtain a B.Eng (Hons.) Mechanical Engineering degree with a CGPA of 3.83, improving to first class compared to his diploma and subsequently selected as the recipient of the Sapura Industrial Berhad Excellence Prize at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) 18th Convocation Ceremony.

He said this success gave him such a sweet experience during his time at UMPSA.

“It is unbelievable to be able to repeat this success.

“I had to go through the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic era.

“We had to study online and technical and communication problems made it difficult for me to understand and stay focused.

“However, with the support of both parents, I regained my confidence and focused on studying consistently and earnestly to achieve the Dean’s List Award every semester,” said the second of three siblings.

Muhammad Aslam not only excelled in his study, but was active in co-curricular activities, especially in club activities and he was appointed as a programme director for university internal activities as well as participating in various volunteer activities.

The son of a hospital technician couple is grateful that after graduating from UMPSA, he was accepted to serve as an engineer at one of the leading automotive companies in Rawang, Selangor early last month.

“The advantage of studying at UMPSA is that the environment is very conducive to the needs of the industry.

“For example, the Makerslab laboratory was established at the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA) and the function of this laboratory is to provide opportunities for students to be directly involved with the processing of a product.

“In creating a solar car, students will be exposed to preliminary processes such as idea generation, automotive drawing, and material experimentation up to the prototype stage with the help of experienced lecturers,” he said.
