3 twin pairs share joy selected to enter UMP

PEKAN, 9 October 2021 – Three twin pairs shared their joy after being selected to continue their studies during the registration of new students for the 2021/2022 Academic Session at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP).

The presence of the twins stole the spotlight during Student Induction Week (MINDS) which was held online via UMPMalaysia’s Facebook recently.

For two of the pairs, they are pursuing their studies in the same course, namely Emberlyn Chia Hui Woan and Sharelyn Chia Hui Xin, 20, who enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Biotechnology programme, while twins Nurul Anisa Suhaimi and Nurul Arina Suhaimi, 19 enrolled in the Bachelor of Computer Science in Graphics and Multimedia Technology programme.

It is different for Nur Amirah Aina Halim who is pursuing her study in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Biotechnology programme and her twin Nur Amirah Aida Halim, who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering programme.

Nur Amirah Aina, 21, was very surprised and grateful when she received the offer to continue her studies with her twin sister at UMP.

“Since we are interested in different fields, we did not expect to study at the same university.

“In addition, previously, we had been separated while attending a diploma program, I was at Politeknik Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and my sister was at Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Kedah.

“Even though we have different majors, we can still meet when we return to campus later,” said the Selangor-born.
Meanwhile, Nurul Anisa is thankful that her dream to continue her study with her twin sister in the same major was fulfilled.

“We have never been separated since we were born, and we also have the same interests and hopefully our dream of becoming game developers will be achieved one day,” she said.

Her participation in Student Induction Week (MINDS) in a new norm was also very enjoyable.

They both prepared from early morning so as not to miss out on each session.

Much information is obtained through MINDS such as about academics, e-learning (KALAM) and others.
Sharelyn Chia Hui Xin, who is from Sarawak, cannot wait to come to UMP because she has never set foot in Pahang.

Even though they will be away from their parents, she feels safer because her sister Emberlyn Chia Hui Woan will be with her.

She hopes that they can be placed in the same residence at UMP.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who acts as the Vice-Chancellor, said 1,528 students have registered to further their studies at the bachelor’s level through 41 programmes offered this year.

He welcomed all new students and wished them a happy Student Induction Week (MINDS).

Although all new students are still at their homes, they must always be aware of the online learning process so as not to be left behind as the 2021/2022 Academic Session begins on 11 October 2021.
