UMPSA acknowledges the success of outstanding academic staff and graduates

KUANTAN, 14 February 2024 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) honoured the exceptional achievements of its academic staff and postgraduate students at the UMPSA Postgraduate Appreciation Ceremony 2023 held today at the Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan.

Organized annually by the Institute of Graduate Studies (IPS), the event aims to celebrate the accomplishments of UMPSA postgraduate students upon graduation and to recognize the contributions of academic staff who have facilitated and enriched various postgraduate academic endeavours at UMPSA.

UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, urged academics and researchers at UMPSA to continue their pivotal role in advancing research excellence at the university, aligning with the aspirations of the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir.

"Academics and researchers at UMPSA not only publish high-impact journals but also engage in fieldwork to interact with communities, sharing knowledge, expertise, and research technologies for the benefit of society," he emphasized.

He expressed appreciation for the commitment of all stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the university's achievements, both nationally and globally.

The speech was delivered by IPS Dean, Professor Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohammad Faizal Che Ku Yahya.

The 2023 UMPSA Postgraduate Appreciation Ceremony recognized ten UMPSA students with awards, including recipients for the Best Student Award (Course Work) category (two recipients), Best Thesis Writing Award (four recipients), Best Publication Award (two recipients), and Outstanding Social Service Student Award (two recipients).

The ceremony also honoured lecturers with awards for the Best Supervisor category (two recipients).

In 2023, UMPSA graduated a total of 252 students, including 80 Doctor of Philosophy graduates, 85 Master of Science (Research) students, 76 Master of Coursework students, and 11 Mixed Mode Masters.
