10 UMPSA Proteges appointed to serve in the management

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 October 2023 - A total of 10 alumni from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) have been successfully chosen as UMPSA Proteges, who will serve at the university and be placed together for a year with the highest university management and corporate bodies.

They were selected from a pool of 53 applicants, with 31 shortlisted before reaching the final stage that qualified them to be appointed as UMPSA Proteges.

Present to confer the appointment certificates were the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, and the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin.

Also present at the event were the Trustees of UMPSA Foundation, Dato' Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman; and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed.

According to Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz, the Proteges should make the most of this one-year period, taking the opportunity to gain experience in various fields during their tenure at UMPSA and corporate bodies.

"I believe that if this opportunity is utilized to the fullest, the Proteges will become more competitive and ready to face a more challenging job market.

They will learn how to make decisions, think critically, strategize, and provide new ideas in the university management.

I also hope that all of the Proteges can learn from their mentors on how to become credible administrators, especially in handling important meetings for problem-solving," he said.

The UMPSA Protege Programme is organized to provide UMPSA alumni with the opportunity to gain experience working as officers for the UMPSA Management for a year.

Proteges will be exposed to various aspects of university leadership and have the chance to become a part of the development process while honing their leadership skills at the highest level of the university.

The event also included an appreciation ceremony for UMPSA climbers who successfully carried the Jalur Gemilang Mission, the state flag of Pahang, and the UMPSA flag to the summit of Mount Kinabalu recently.
