Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed appointed as President of AUSC

KOTA SURABAYA, 7 December 2022 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) continues to lead the Southeast Asian university sports arena when the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed was appointed as the President of the Asean University Sports Council (AUSC) for the period 2023 to 2025 in the 5th AUSC General Assembly 2022 held at the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel in Kota Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.

He, who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Universities Sports Council (MASUM), now plays a wider role in ensuring that the sports development programmes of Southeast Asian universities grow in line with the current development of world university sports.

Also present at the meeting and the appointment ceremony was the Director of the Centre for Sports and Culture UMP who is also the Secretary-General of MASUM, Mohd Aznorizamin Haji Ismail.

Before that, the 32nd AUSC Meeting was held in the morning to discuss in detail the preparation of the host, Indonesia for the 2024 Asean University Games (AUG) scheduled to take place in Kota Surabaya and Kota Malang, Indonesia.

There were also visit and inspection at several locations of the upcoming tournament.

Meanwhile, the UMP delegation led by TNC (HEPA) also had the opportunity to visit Surabaya to initiate a collaboration programme with Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia.

The short-term programme between the two institutions is geared towards a programme of young talents among students with the theme Future Talent Exploration Programme which aims to provide exposure in producing more scholars and thinkers who can benefit both institutions.

Hopefully, with this appointment, AUSC, MASUM and UMP will continue to excel at the international level.
