Ziarah Prihatin UMP appreciates outstanding SPM student obtained 9 A

KUANTAN, 11 June 2023 - Losing a mother while sitting the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination did not deter Mohamad Abdul Jani Hayi, a student of Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SEMSAS) Kuantan to obtain 9 A.

However the joy could not be shared with his beloved mother, Norhazlin Othman, 53, who passed on while he was sitting for SPM in February.

For Mohamad Abdul Jani, the second of two siblings, this success was a gift for his mother and father, Jalani Jusoh, 55, who worked as a handyman to support their family.

At the same time, his brother, Abdul Rahman Jalani, 22, has just completed his Diploma of Architecture at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS) Kuantan and intends to continue his study at the undergraduate level.

Concerned about the success of this family, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman visited this family and delivered donations of goods from Yayasan UMP.

According to Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad, the success of Mohamad Abdul Jani was extraordinary because he was tested by Allah SWT with the loss of his beloved mother while sitting for SPM but managed to go through the examination smoothly to get excellent results.

“This simple family life situation also does not prevent him from excelling in SPM.

“His success can be a source of inspiration to all of us that despite facing a tough test from Allah SWT, we have to go through it with perseverance and patience,” he said during the visit at Kampung Sri Damai, Kuantan.

In addition, this visit celebrated the success and shared information about higher education opportunities after SPM at UMP, education financing facilities with sponsorship and dual degree programmes involving collaboration with international institutions.

Also present were the Director of the Centre for Marketing and Academic Intake, Zainal Bahari and Manager, Academic and International Affairs Department, Hazmin Aris.

UMP offers 43 undergraduate degree programmes and eight diploma programmes.
