UMP receives visit from Petrosains

PEKAN, 16 June 2023 – A delegation from Petrosains, led by its CEO En Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, recently visited the UMP STEM Lab, accompanied by esteemed members of the Petrosains team.

The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations between Petrosains and UMP, specifically focusing on community outreach programmes related to science education and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives.

The Petrosains delegation comprised key individuals who play vital roles in driving the organisation’s mission and programmes, Director of Programs, Norhana Hamim, Director of Brand and Communication, Shamini Balan, Head of Stakeholder Management, Nur Syaqila Samsuldin, and Head of Petrosains PlaySmart Kuantan, Rahimah Umar Rauf, were among the distinguished representatives present.

The visit was facilitated by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Industry and Community Collaboration Division, Associate Professor Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin and Dr. Mohd Anwar Zawawi, the acting Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (FTKEE).

Also present are certified trainers for UMP Bosch Rexroth Academy, Haji Amran Abdul Hadi and MakerSpace UMP, Dr. Ismayuzri Ishak.

UMP receives visit from Petrosains

The visit to the UMP STEM Lab also saw the active participation of members from the Pahang community who have been instrumental in supporting STEM activities in the region.

Arman Tojid, representing the Pahang State Education Department, played a vital role in facilitating collaborations between educational institutions and Petrosains.

His presence highlighted the department’s commitment to promoting STEM education in the region.

Another notable attendee was Wan Rahmat Wan Ismail from Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Keledang, who has been actively contributing to fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and learning among students.

Muhammad Dzulfikri Mohd Dzulkifri, from SK Sultan Ahmad, also joined the event together with a teacher from SMK Ubai, Mohd Adzrul Adzhari.

The diverse expertise and perspectives brought by these attendees added value to the discussions and further emphasised the commitment of various stakeholders to promoting STEM education and community outreach in Pahang.

Associate Professor Dr. Nurul Hazlina said the primary objective of the visit was to foster a closer relationship between Petrosains and UMP, two prominent entities in science education and community outreach.

Both organisations share a common goal of promoting STEM education and inspiring the younger generation to pursue careers in science and technology.

“During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to explore the UMP STEM Lab and witness firsthand the university’s innovative projects and initiatives.

“The UMP STEM Lab is a hub of technological advancements and serves as a platform for students and researchers to develop and showcase their skills in various STEM disciplines,” she said.

Meanwhile, the discussions between Petrosains and UMP centred around potential collaborations in community outreach programmes, leveraging Petrosains’s expertise in science education and STEM outreach.

The aim is to expand the reach of these programmes, engaging more students, teachers, and the local community in interactive and educational initiatives.

UMP STEM Lab is delighted to explore collaboration opportunities with Petrosains, a reputable institution known for its commitment to promoting STEM education.
