More than 100 attend the World Sustainable Construction Conference Series 2023

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 October 2023 - The World Sustainable Construction Conference Series 2023 (WSCC Series 2023), organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), was held physically from October 13 to 14, 2023 at the Tamu Hotel & Suites, Kuala Lumpur.

The two-day conference successfully gathered a total of 100 conference papers from academics, researchers, and representatives from various local and international higher education institutions (HEIs).

UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, was also present to inaugurate the conference, which carried the theme 'The Unforeseen,' referring to unforeseeable and unexpected events, such as natural disasters that have struck worldwide.

WSCC 2023 is a combination of several other conferences, including the Sixth Symposium National Conference on Wind and Earthquake Engineering, the Fourth International Seminar of Sustainable Construction Engineering, the Fourth International Conference on Agricultural Technology and Engineering and Environmental Sciences, and the Second Water Symposium, in collaboration with strategic partners, namely Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Beijing Jiatong University, Universitas Syiah Kuala Aceh, Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh, and Universitas Brawijaya Indonesia.

The conference also successfully brought together experts and researchers in the fields of Wind Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Construction Engineering to share information and research findings related to the theme.

More than 100 participants attended the conference, including experts in related fields from various international countries.

A mini forum took place to discuss challenges and opportunities in sustainable infrastructure development within the Public Works Department (JKR), presented by the Director of Specialist and Management Services, Civil and Structural Engineering Branch (CKAS), JKR Malaysia Headquarters, Kuala Lumpur, Ir. Md Khairi Yaacob. The mini forum also discussed various disasters that have occurred in other countries in the context of Wind Engineering, presented by CFD Engineer/Asian Regional Manager, SOH Wind Engineering, LLC, USA, Dr. Jaeyong Chung.

According to the Chairman of WSCC 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Mohamad Idris Ali, this seventh conference is also in conjunction with the rebranding of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) to Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).
