UMP to expand collaboration with LiuZhou Railway Vocational Technology College in the field of Engineering and Railway Technology

PEKAN, July 11, 2023 - A visit by a delegation from LiuZhou Railway Vocational Technology College, Guangxi, China (LZRVTC), led by the Director, Scientific & Technical Graphic Information, Professor Dr. Zhou Lan, to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) recently provided an opportunity for both parties to leverage collaborative opportunities in the field of Engineering and Railway Technology.

Welcoming the delegation were UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman.

The LZRVTC delegation was accompanied by representatives from China Communication Construction Company (CCCC).

According to Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, this meeting will expand UMP's network of collaboration in academic and international cooperation, mobility, dual degrees, and research, which will be mutually beneficial, particularly in the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, and others.

"UMP has collaborations with Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC) in the East Coast Rail Link Industrial Skills Training Program (PLKI-ECRL), which started in 2017 until 2022 and has been extended for another five years until 2027.

"Furthermore, UMP also collaborates with Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) in China for the Dual Degree Program involving Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering fields, which will contribute to the development of the country's railway industry," he said.

In addition, they also discussed potential cooperation in the ECRL project, including the provision of training modules for operations and maintenance, as well as the establishment of an operation and maintenance-based training institute for railways.

The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Teaching Factory laboratory at Centre for Design & Innovation of Technology (PRInT) and the Confucius Institute (CI) to gain an understanding of the areas of expertise in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology, and Mandarin language teaching offered by UMP.

Also present were Deputy Dean of the Vocational Training Institute, Xiao Jingling, Associate Professor Lan Zhiiang, and Dr. Wu Yonggui from the Faculty of Transport Management.
