Vice-Chancellor of UMP honors outstanding STPM students

KUANTAN, 25 July 252023 - The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, had the opportunity to honour and share the joy with two outstanding Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students at their respective residences.

The visit aimed to recognize and provide support for the remarkable academic achievements of both students. 

The two excellent students are Khaulah Azwar Syahar Alam and Aliyah Afifah Azril, both of whom are former students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Rahman Talib (SMART) in Kuantan.

They achieved exceptional success in the recently announced STPM examination results. 

Khaulah Azwar achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.92, while Aliyah Afifah obtained a perfect CGPA of 4.0.

Their outstanding achievements undoubtedly qualify them to pursue higher education.

During the visit, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin expressed admiration and pride for their excellent academic accomplishments. It is even more impressive as both of them are the eldest children in their families, and this success serves as an example and inspiration for their entire family.

In addition to providing words of encouragement, he also shared information with them about the study programmes offered at UMP. Moreover, both students were offered scholarships by the university to support their financial needs throughout their studies.

According to him, these scholarships are part of the university's efforts to ensure that students from low-income families have equal opportunities to pursue higher education.

"With these scholarships, we hope that students can focus more on their studies without having to worry about the financial burden," he said.

The UMP delegation's visit was also attended by the Principal of SMART, Tuan Haji Mohammad Che Ibrahim, and the Head Counselor of SMART, Puan Norazizah Jusoh, who were present to provide support and encouragement to their former students as they continue their studies at UMP.

As a token of appreciation and contribution to the outstanding achievements of these two students, the Vice-Chancellor of UMP also presented a donation in the form of sponsored food items from the UMP Foundation to both students' families.

Also present during the visit were Hazmin Aris, Senior Manager of the Academic and International Affairs Department (JHEAA), and Zainal Bahari, Director of the Centre for Marketing and Academic Intake (PPKA).
