UMPSA's compassionate visit programme extends service to Tuaran community

TUARAN, 1 March 2024 - Concerned about the plight of some families facing difficulties, the management team of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) visited five families in and around Kampung Roun, Serusup, Selupoh, and foster families in Kampung Batangan as part of the ‘Program Ziarah Prihatin UMPSA@Rumah Baiti Jannati’ in conjunction with the ‘Program Kembara Prihatin@Negeri di bawah Bayu 2.0’.

Similarly, the residents had the opportunity to benefit from the Technology Programme conducted in Kampung Roun, Kampung Kiwatu, and Kampung Batangan through the installation of solar panels to improve the standard of living for daily use.

For Affendi Adak, 25, he described the presence of UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin at his residence as evidence of the university's concern and understanding of the community's plight. He stated that the assistance provided would be utilized effectively. He, being the third child of five siblings, two of whom have disabilities, was thrilled to see his house now brighter and more comfortable.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, in this programme, the UMPSA Foundation and its partners, Samaiden & Mr. Solar, installed six units of solar panels, 100 meters of DC cable, and four units of VRLA 12V, 120aH batteries for the project implemented in the technology cluster benefiting the homes of residents, mosques, community halls, and adjacent cemetery grounds.

“This project is led by Senior Engineer/Energy Manager at UMPSA, Ts. Haji Mohd Nurul Akla Mohd Azlan, who specializes in solar energy. Solar energy will open the eyes of the villagers to the growing renewable energy, providing a clean alternative to conventional energy sources.

“Moreover, the contribution of solar panels will be used for lamp projects and portable chargers that will benefit the communities of Kampung Batangan and Kampung Kiwatu/Roun,” he said.

He, present to deliver food kits and cash to families here, greatly appreciated Samaiden's contribution for their concern and support for the Tuaran, Sabah community.
